The Role:

As a Laser Applications Development Engineer, you will:

Laser Applications Development:

  • Interpret customer and project requirements to define processing strategies.
  • Set up and configure laser and optical systems for optimal material interaction.
  • Develop and refine laser processes through hands-on experimentation.
  • Analyse and report on test results, ensuring robust documentation throughout.

Customer Engagement:

  • Provide technical support to internal sales teams.
  • Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to customers.

Collaboration with Engineering Teams:

  • Work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to align process requirements with machine design.
  • Assist with process commissioning and customer acceptance testing on-site (occasional global travel required).

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • A degree in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in a research or development role.
  • Strong understanding of lasers, optics, and laser materials processing.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
  • Innovative mindset with a drive to enhance process efficiency.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Master's or PhD in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in electronics or photovoltaic (PV) industries.
