Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract | Hybrid Working

We are looking for a Contract Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality mechanical design solutions. Working across a variety of projects, you will produce 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation while championing a right-first-time approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems to project briefs
• Produce accurate 3D models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation
• Manage drawings, BoMs, and models using internal systems
• Review colleagues' designs and participate in design reviews
• Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and ISO 9001 processes
• Improve designs through DfMA and value-engineering practices

What You'll Bring

• Strong 3D CAD capability (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
• Good knowledge of BS 8888 technical drawing standards
• Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines
• High attention to detail with a commitment to quality

Desirable

• Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, Degree, etc.)
• Experience with PDM systems (Autodesk Vault preferred)
• Knowledge of machinery design standards, bulk material handling, or conveyor systems
