Senior Mechanical Systems Lead (New Product Development)
The Opportunity A leading specialist in high-performance thermal engineering is looking for a senior-level Mechanical Design Engineer to act as a Technical Subsystem Owner. This role sits within a sophisticated R&D environment, focusing on the end-to-end development of complex electromechanical hardware. You will bridge the gap between initial concept and full-scale production within a highly regulated framework.
Core Responsibilities
System Architecture: Lead the mechanical design and technical ownership of advanced thermal-controlled subsystems.
Full Lifecycle Design: Manage projects from early-stage prototyping through to manufacturing hand-off and field support.
Technical Integrity: Oversight of detailed CAD modeling, technical documentation, and compliance with rigorous industry standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work within an Agile framework to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and quality controls (FMEA) are met.
Continuous Innovation: Drive the research of emerging technologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
Candidate Profile
Extensive Industry Tenure: Significant experience (approx. two decades) in mechanical product design and new product development (NPD).
Electromechanical Expertise: Proven track record with high-performance systems involving complex moving parts or specialized environmental controls.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level capability in industry-standard 3D modeling software.
Process Driven: Familiarity with structured development environments, including ISO-regulated design controls and risk management.
Leadership Mentality: Experience taking full accountability for subsystems and mentoring junior engineers within a sprint-based delivery model.
Education & Qualifications
Professional degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
Professional certifications in process improvement or project management methodologies are highly regarded.
