BMS Commissioning Engineer
Location: Oxfordshire / Berkshire / Hampshire (Hybrid)
Salary: DOE (circa 65k)
Holiday: 22 Days + Bank Holidays
Travel: Own vehicle required initially
The Opportunity
An established building controls and electrical engineering business is seeking a BMS Commissioning Engineer to join its growing team. The company delivers complete BMS solutions, from design and installation through to commissioning, optimisation and ongoing support across commercial and industrial projects.
This is a hybrid role offering a mixture of remote programming and site-based commissioning work. You'll work closely with in-house design and installation teams to bring systems online, optimise performance and provide ongoing support to clients across Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission and configure Building Management Systems (BMS) on new and existing installations
- Develop, modify and optimise BMS software and control strategies
- Program and commission systems using Trend and/or Honeywell platforms
- Carry out point-to-point checks, functional testing and system validation
- Diagnose and resolve commissioning and operational issues
- Support project delivery from handover through to client acceptance
- Provide ongoing service support, system modifications and performance improvements
- Produce commissioning documentation and technical reports
- Liaise with project managers, design engineers, electricians and end users to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements
- Previous experience as a BMS Commissioning Engineer, BMS Controls Engineer or similar
- Strong knowledge of Trend and/or Honeywell BMS systems
- Experience writing, modifying and troubleshooting BMS software and control strategies
- Good understanding of HVAC systems and building services
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control drawings
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing workload remotely
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
Desirable
- Experience with additional BMS platforms
- Knowledge of energy optimisation and system efficiency improvements
- Experience supporting both commissioning and service activities
- Electrical qualifications or controls-related training
