E&M FITTER
Location: Hove, East Sussex (factory-based with regular UK site travel)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE + Overtime & Additional Payments
Hours: 37.5 per week
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for an experienced E&M Fitter with practical AC and DC electrical experience to join a specialist engineering business.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining factory-based assembly with regular customer site work, particularly within the rail sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mechanical assembly and electrical wiring of AC and DC switchgear.
- Site surveys, inspections and equipment installations.
- Planned and reactive maintenance of DC switchgear within the rail sector, including Network Rail and London Underground.
- Supporting testing and commissioning of AC and DC equipment.
- Fault finding, repairs and customer support.
- Working from engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience working with Low Voltage AC and DC systems.
- Background in electrical/mechanical fitting, installation or maintenance.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A flexible approach to regular site travel and occasional overnight stays.
Rail experience, PTS/ECS cards, 18th Edition and relevant engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
SALARY & BENEFITS
- £35,000 - £40,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
- Overtime: Time and a half during the week and double time at weekends.
- Additional £25 payment for customer site visits.
- Additional overnight and late-return payments.
- Paid on-call rota, with additional call-out payments and minimum overtime guarantees.

WORKING HOURS
- Monday - Thursday: 7:45 am - 4:30 pm.
- Friday: 7:45 am - 12:15 pm.
- Based at the Hove factory, with regular UK site travel, predominantly in the South East.
