Project Engineer

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid Working)

The Opportunity

An established engineering organisation is seeking a Project Engineer to join its growing project delivery team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging engineering projects that support industrial infrastructure, utilities, and process operations across the UK.

The successful candidate will take ownership of projects from initial planning through to completion, working closely with clients, suppliers, site teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

This role offers a blend of technical engineering, project management, client interaction, and site-based activities, making it ideal for someone looking to further develop their engineering and project delivery career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects through the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery to scope, budget, and programme.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and value.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide technical support during bid, proposal, and project planning stages.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal departments throughout project execution.
  • Manage project risks, variations, and change control activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and handover activities where required.
  • Produce and maintain accurate project documentation and progress reports.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and organised engineering professional with strong communication skills and a practical approach to project delivery.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering engineering projects within industrial, process, utilities, manufacturing, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on capital equipment, process plant, utilities, water, energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of engineering project delivery methodologies.
  • Knowledge of commissioning, installation, or site-based project activities.
  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Exposure to client-facing project environments.
