Lead Mechanical Engineer
We're supporting an innovative engineering business that develops and manufactures specialist fuel systems, precision-engineered valves, components, and accessories for critical applications across the energy, defence, utilities, and power generation sectors.
Due to continued investment and an increasing project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Contract Mechanical Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership and specialist engineering expertise.
Working closely with Design, Compliance, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, you'll drive engineering best practice, enhance engineering processes, support capability development, and provide technical guidance across a multidisciplinary engineering function. This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact within a business delivering complex engineering solutions to critical industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Assess engineering capability and support the implementation of development plans and best practice.
- Drive continuous improvement, engineering governance, and process optimisation.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and wider engineering teams to support successful project delivery.
- Support digital transformation initiatives, including improvements to CAD systems and engineering workflows.
- Ensure engineering activities are delivered to the highest standards of quality, cost, and performance.
Experience
- Proven experience providing technical leadership within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering background covering design, development, and manufacturing.
- Experience within gas turbines, rotating equipment, oil & gas, energy, defence, or other highly regulated industries.
- Strong understanding of engineering processes and continuous improvement.
- SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD experience would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
