The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to lead the delivery of MEICA projects within the UK water industry.

Working closely with the Project Manager and Construction Manager, you will take day-to-day responsibility for site delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

You will act as the key operational contact on site, coordinating internal teams and subcontractors across mechanical, electrical and instrumentation, control and automation (ICA) workstreams.

The role is site-based and involves extensive travel across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Site & Project Management

  • Take overall responsibility for day-to-day site delivery of MEICA works.
  • Manage site programmes and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Liaise directly with clients and key stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and internal labour across mechanical, electrical and ICA workstreams.
  • Monitor site costs, expenditure and resource allocation.
  • Manage variations and support commercial project delivery.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment required on site.
  • Identify and manage potential programme and delivery risks.

Health & Safety

  • Take responsibility for maintaining high standards of health and safety across site activities.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture among employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure risk assessments and method statements are followed.
  • Monitor activities involving mechanical and electrical hazards and ensure appropriate controls are in place.

Quality Management

  • Ensure MEICA installations are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and relevant standards.
  • Carry out inspections of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installations.
  • Maintain site quality records, test documentation and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Identify and manage defects and non-conformances through to resolution.
  • Verify installations are complete and appropriately tested before handover.
  • Provide installation sign-off and support the transition into commissioning.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager, Site Agent or similar within the construction or engineering sector.
  • Relevant experience within the UK water industry is essential.
  • Experience delivering MEICA projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and site delivery.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and relevant health & safety legislation.
  • Understanding of WIMES would be advantageous.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams.
  • Good understanding of project programmes, costs and resources.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with extensive UK travel.

Essential Qualifications

  • SMSTS
  • CSCS Black Card or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Relevant site management experience

Desirable

  • CSCS Black Card or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • IOSH or relevant Health & Safety qualification
  • 3-Day First Aid at Work
